Parent Consulting Program - 2 year program

Offered online, starting September 2026

Prerequisites: Neufeld Institute Foundational Studies: Intensives I, II and III, Science of Emotion; Play into Practice Program as first year [which requires Play & Emotion (or Playful Therapy with Tamara Strijack)]

Description: The parent consulting approach, pioneered by Dr. Neufeld in Canada, helps children by working through their parents rather than directly with children. Parents thus receive the insight and support they need to become the answers to their children, working with a helping professional who has a deep understanding of an attachment-based developmental approach.

The Parent Consulting Program is available to helping professionals (psychologists, pediatricians, social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, etc.), who are independently credentialed and in good standing with their own regulatory bodies, who would like support to develop this approach in their work. Admission requirements include recommendation of a Neufeld Institute faculty member. Please note that we only accept a small number of students into this program.

Includes the following components:

  • Play into Practice: Part 1 and 2  (September 2026 to May 2027)

  • Parent Consulting Immersive (September 2027 to June 2028) including teaching segments with Neufeld Faculty, live consults, case presentations and review of pre-recorded parent consulting related material, as well as an experience going through the Power to Parent series.
